In 2006, Kareena Kapoor announced that she had become vegetarian in order to keep her weight in check. In a matter of months, she went from 60kg to 48kg, becoming an icon for women who want to lose weight. Rujuta Diwekar, a Mumbai-based celebrity dietitian, is credited for drafting the Kareena Kapoor diet. The actress claimed that Rujuta motivated her to “eat well. eat right, and eat regularly".As explained in Rujuta's book "Don't lose your mind, lose your weight", the Kareena Kapoor diet is based on nutrition and not counting calories, and eating more when active and less when sedentary. Since the actress spent most of her time shooting in different parts of the world, her diet consisted of a combination of staple foods (muesli, fresh fruit) and local cuisine in moderation, along with daily doses of exercise and yoga.
